Evidence-Based Nutrition, Built Around Your Life

The Gut–Brain Dietitian is a private practice supporting people across Australia with their gut, brain, immune and metabolic health. We will work alongside GPs and specialists so your nutrition plans fit with your other programs or treatments. Consults are currently via Telehealth, with in-person appointments coming soon.

Meet Our Founder

Taryn Milton is an Accredited Practising Dietitian with more than a decade of study and work across biomedical and nutrition science, immunology research, clinical trials and dietetic practice. She is particularly interested in where diet, the gut microbiome, immunity, metabolism and the brain meet, and in why people respond differently to dietary changes, shaped by their genes, environment, gut microbes and life experiences.

Taryn holds a Bachelor of Biomedicine with First Class Honours in microbiology and immunology from the University of Melbourne. Her honours research at the Peter Doherty Institute explored how diet, the gut microbiome and microbial metabolites such as short-chain fatty acids shape systemic immune responses and metabolism. As a clinical trial coordinator and research dietitian with Deakin University's Food & Mood Centre and Monash University's Diet, Gut and Brain group, she helped run nutrition trials across both sites, including the OPTIMISM Study and the Body and Brain in IBS Study. She remains an Adjunct Research Associate at Monash University and continues to design and build clinical trial databases for University led, multisite research studies, which keeps her close to how high-quality evidence is produced.

Before science, Taryn worked in visual communication and design, where her love of making complex ideas clear and engaging began. She also spent six years as a personal trainer alongside her studies, which gave her a real-world sense of how nutrition, movement and behaviour fit together, and of what makes change last.

" Best practice isn't only about the science. It is about really seeing and listening to the person in front of us, so complex information can be translated into clear and practical guidance tailored to individual experiences, priorities and concerns. Our aim is to help people make informed decisions and feel confident managing their health."
